まるさん、穴があったらどうします？
Hey Maru, what would you do if there was a hole?
まる：「顔を入れるに決まってるでしょう。」
Maru:[Of course, I put my face in it.]
初めてまるさんが穴に顔をつっ込んだのを目撃したのは、まだ1才になる前、
加湿器のポリタンクを洗って乾かしていたら、それを頭に被ったまるさんが現れた。
さすがに初見の時は驚いて、抜けなくなったのだと思って慌てて外したけど、すぐにまた顔をつっ込む。
The first time I saw Maru put his face in a hole was before he was a year old.
I was washing and drying the poly tank of the humidifier when he appeared wearing it on his head.
When I first saw it, I was surprised and thought his head couldn’t get out of it, so I took it off right away. But Maru soon put his face into it again.
そして、ウェーイ！って浮かれて現れる。そのまま様子を見ていたら、ちゃんと自分で外せていたので、ああ、そうやって遊んでるんだなということが分かった。
（でもさすがに危ないので、出かける時はまるさんが顔をつっ込みそうなものは片づけてました！）
And Maru comes to me happily. I watched him for a while, and he took it off his head properly, so I understood that he was playing with it.
(But it was dangerous, so when I went out, I would put away anything that he might put his face into.)
それから15年余りたって、まるさんの穴に顔をつっ込む技は格段に進歩している。
More than 15 years later, Maru’s technique of sticking his face into a hole has greatly improved.
あ、はなと目が合った！ はなも被ってみる？
Hana, I made eye contact with you! Do you want to wear that too?
はな：「普通の猫はそんなことしないのよ！」
Hana:[Normal cats never do that!]
みりは羨ましそうに見てたよね？
Miri, you looked at Maru with envy. Right?
みり：「え、また変な物被ってるなーって思って見てただけなんだけど…。」
Miri:[No, I only saw him because he is wearing a strange thing again…]
