昨日はまるさんの一周忌でした。
たくさんのお気遣いや励ましのメッセージをありがとうございます。
Yesterday was the first anniversary of Maru’s death.
Thank you so much for all your kind and encouraging messages.
まるさんが居なくなって一番変わったこと――誰もキッチンを荒らさない。
お菓子の袋がうっかり置いてあっても誰も齧って穴を開けない
キッチンでお弁当を冷ましていても誰もペロペロしない
蓋に重しを乗せていなくても誰もゴミ箱を漁らない
戸棚を勝手に開けて物色しない
早朝に鍋の蓋をガシャガシャ鳴らさない
早朝にステンレスのボウルを床に落とさない
早朝にビニールの袋をカシャカシャ鳴らさない
――まるさんとの18年間の一番の思い出は、もしかしたらキッチンでの攻防戦かもしれない。
それくらい、ちょっとの油断も隙も許さないお方でした（笑）
The biggest thing that has changed since Maru left is that nobody messes with the kitchen.
Even if a bag of snacks is accidentally left lying around, no one bites into it and makes a hole in it
Nobody licks the food even when I’m letting packed lunch cool in the kitchen.
Nobody rummages through the trash can even if there’s no weight on the lid.
No one opens cupboards and rummages through them without permission.
Nobody rattles the lid of a pot early in the morning.
Nobody drops a stainless steel bowl on the floor early in the morning.
Nobody makes a rustling noise with plastic bags in the early morning.
—Perhaps my best memory from the past 18 years with Maru is the battle we had in the kitchen.
That’s how much Maru never let my guard down or gave me a chance (lol)
