はなも結構警戒心が強いので、いつもと違う音＆衝撃があるとびっくりしちゃうかなと、
ちょっと心配しながら切ってみると――

みりも――
In Miri’s case,
みり：「このおっきい爪切り大丈夫？ 痛くない？」
Miri:[Is this big nail clipper safe? Doesn’t it hurt?]
痛くないから、音で驚かないでね。
It doesn’t hurt, so don’t be surprised by the sound.

I cut!
みり：「いつももっとビックリすることあるから、これくらい大丈夫だわ。」
Miri:[There are always many more surprises for me. So I’m totally fine.]

まる：「すべてはわたくしのおかげです。」

よく爪切りのアドバイスを求められるのですが、小さい頃から慣らす、というのが一番大きいのかもしれません。後は、子猫の時にイヤイヤして途中で逃げようとしても、結構しっかりホールドして、切り終わって「よし」と言ってから放すようにしています。イヤイヤして暴れた時にすぐに手を放してしまうと、暴れると放してもらえる、と理解してしまいそうなので。その代わり、痛くしない、素早く終わらせる、は絶対です！ 歯磨きや他のお手入れの時も、終わったら「よし」と声掛けしてから、手を放すようにしています。成猫になってからの慣らし方は、経験がないのでわかりません！
I’m often asked for advice on nail clipping, but the biggest thing is probably getting used to it from a kitten. After that, even if the kittens try to run away on the way, I hold them tight and let them go after I cut their nails and say “OK”. Because they’re likely to understand that if I let go of your kitten right away when they run away, they’ll let you go when they try to run away. Instead, make it painless and finish it quickly! When brushing their teeth or doing other grooming, I also try to say “OK” when I’m done and then let go. I don’t know how to get used to it after becoming an adult cat because I have no experience!
