ハードルを低くして再チャレンジしたところ――
Maru&Hana&Miri re-challenged with low hurdles!
はな：「どんどん低く簡単になっていく！」
Hana:[It gets easier and easier!]
前回もジャンプしたはなは、今回ももちろんジャンプ！
Hana jumped last time, and she jumped again this time!
みり：「あたしは下からじゃないと行けないの！」
Miri:[I can only go from below!]
前回下からのみりは、今回も頑なに下から。
みりは今回はきっとジャンプするだろうと予想していたので、一番の驚きでした。
Last time Miri passed from the bottom, this time she also went from the bottom.
I was sure Miri would jump this time.
So I was surprised by her behavior.
まる：「そこのけそこのけおまるが通る。」
Maru:[I push hurdles in my face.]
まるさんはまあ、今回もきっと豪快に押し倒していくだろうと予想できましたが、
それでも低いハードルはまたいでいくのではとも思っていたので、
顔面で押しのけていくスタイルを崩さなかったのには驚きです。
I thought Maru would push away the hurdles again this time.
But he also thought he might cross a low bar.
In fact, he pushed it away with his face.
まる：「顔面最強。」
Maru:[My face is strong.]
このハードル大会を通して、猫は「習慣の生き物」であることがよく分かりました。
前回の成功体験をもとに、自分で決めたルールに従って行動する。
まるさんの”成功”については、議論の余地が残りますが…。
Through this hurdle race, I understood that cats are creatures of habit.
They act according to their own rules based on their previous successful experiences.
Though Maru’s “success” is debatable…
